I used geexbox-devel-20120221-r13974-i386.iso to install to HDD as described here: http://www.geexbox.org/forum/topic/trying-to-install-geexbox-to-hdd/
When I try to mount an NFS share using:
mount -t nfs 10.10.10.10:/home/ftp /mnt/video/
I get the following errors:
mount.nfs: an incorrect mount option was specified
mount: mounting 10.10.10.10:/home/ftp on /mnt/juche/ failed: Connection refused
I have changed the ip of my pc to the same as the GeeXboX machine and mounted the NFS share to confirm that there were no problems with permissions.
I tried adding the NFS share to /etc/fstab and rebooting, but it did not mount.
Finally I added “10.10.10.10:/home/ftp videos” to /etc/nfs. After a reboot, the share had mounted to /mnt/nfs/videos okay. I added videos to my library etc from the NFS share and played them okay. But after a second reboot, the share will not mount again.
After changing a lot of settings and permissions on the NFS server (so many I don’t remember), deleting the line I’d added to /etc/nfs, rebooting, adding the line to /etc/nfs, and rebooting again, I managed to get the share to mount once more. But as before, after a reboot, the share will not mount anymore. Deleting it from /etc/nfs and re-adding it after a reboot will not make it mount again.
Have I done something wrong, or am I making a mistake?
Any help appreciated.
Thanks.

You mean to add “nolock” as an option in fstab?
This is what I’ve in there now, but it didn’t work:
10.10.10.10:/home/ftp /mnt/juche nfs ro,nolock,hard,intr 0 0

Ok, now I can manually mount it, but it doesn’t mount on boot.

nfs mount should be done after network is up

Why don’t you use the nfs mount possibility inside xbmc ?

It wouldn’t mount from inside xbmc either. I could “see” the share, but it just looked like an empty folder.
Is there a way I can ensure that networking is up before nfs tries to mount?
(If there’s existing documentation on that, just point me in the right direction)

when you add nfs shares under sbmc, you see only directories
When you return inside video/your-nfs-share , all supported files appears
(server side : my /etc/exports : /geexbox 192.168.1.0/24(rw,insecure) )
if you use /etc/nfs, automounter_nfs check network status :
look inside usr/bin/automount_nfs, there is a function “wait_for_network” ( /etc/funcs )
anyway, if it’s broken, we need to fix it

/usr/bin/automount_nfs appears to be broken.
When I remove the following lines from it:
if [ ! -e "$MNT" ]; then
mkdir -p “$MNT”
fi
and manually add the directories for the mount points in /mnt/nfs/ it works
