I realized that GeeXboX often starts with the wrong monitor configuration (resolution, … whatever) when i turn the GeeXboX-PC on BEFORE i turn on my AV Receiver and the TV. (PC is connected vi HDMI to Yamaha AV-receiver and the AV-receiver via HDMI to the TV)

Results sometimes in a error message from the TV, that the video format is invalid or in rare cases after the blue grub start menu i get complains from GeeXboX about the unknow/invalid/… “framebuffer” (can not repeat the error message now).

Any chance to get rid of this. Because this is a no go concerning the WAF ;-)

    WAF ?
i’m unable to reproduce this : (cec module ?)
did you try to setup resolution in system ?
another solution use a custom edid file for xorg
or manually setup resolution for xorg

WAF = Woman Acceptance Factor (in this case: my wife)

    I have no CEC modul.
I have not set the resolution by hand, it was detected automatically.
You think i could extract mybe the EDID values of my TV and put same as default in xorg.
    Can you tell me how?

    lol
    didn’t know this expression ;)
For me, xbmc always restart at 720p (but my tv can do 1080p)
I set this in xbmc, i think there is no need of a custom edid or xorg.conf, Can you test ?
extract edid is quite easy for nvidia card, don’t know for other
