Before I state my issue with GeeXBox, I want to say I am glad I discovered GeeXBox. It is the next best thing to cable or satelite TV. Thank you. Now on to my question. I have the latest GeeXBox and I just bought a wireless TP-Link Card to use with the system. So many people online recommended this perticular wireless card since it works on Linux system without any issue. That it does. I have verified that the card does work flawlessly. However, for the last 3 to 4 hours I am banging my head against the wall trying to get the card working with GeeXBox. I have been reading and read countless forum comments and threads on this issue including on GeeXBox and for the life of me I simply can’t get the card to even wink. A lot of you said, you have to modify the network file, but once you boot into GeeXBox you really don’t have access to anything but media files. So, how do you get at the system files? The way I have been setting GeeXBox Network Configuration is by going to Programs menu and clicking on GeeXBox Network Configuration option. Once I get there I am given the following options as follow: Network: LAN or WLAN - I chose WLAN Once I have all these setting entered, GeeXBox acts like it is connected but any time I try to go to get add ons or load Youtube Video it does nothing or freezes. I have again spent countless hours making sure every bit of informiation is correcti before I entered them. However, under latest Fedora, the card immediately comes online only for me to supply the key to get access to the internet. So, I know the wireless card itself can’t be the problem untless this perticular brand is not supported by GeeXBox. Please, someone help me….I am only one step closer to fully enjoying my HD LCD TV through my HTPC via my Internet Connection….All thanks to GeeXBox. Bye Bye To Cable and Satelite TV…..You can keep your channels LOL.

I did forget to mention that GeeXBox works on wired connection in seconds without me doing anything but connecting the Cat5 cable to my Ethernet socket. My 5 year old son is going crazy over GeeXBox that he is browsing through youtube videos and watching his favourite shows on TV without any commercials. Yahoooo!!! Only wish GeeXBox allowed users to change video resolution if possible like they give options on Youtube Website. Anyways, I didn’t think of Hyper Terminal. I guess, you could get access to system files through that and change them if you have to. I will try that tonight after work…. Wow, thanks for everything GeeXBox…I am going to donate to GeeXBox. I want to see more improvement on this Great Linux Multimedia System. |

Solved. I did exactly what tom told to do by just filling in the wep key, SSID and setting WLAN and wlan0 and leaving everything else blank. It works. Thank you tom and nilesh.
