Hi,
i have problem with subtittle, when i try to load subtittle which have east european character (serbian, bosnian, croatian characters : Ä,ć,Å¡..) they don`t display on screen. If i manualy remove those (east european) character from subtittle, then they display on screen. And it is happens also with .sub and .srt format. How can i resolve this?

Ok, il already try every possible combination with settings for subtittle (http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=File:Settings.videos.subtitles.jpg) and also with general localization (USA, Serbian, Croatian…) and it did not work. Il try your second suggestion when i come home, but i have one problem: i dont know how to do that
Can you explain me how?Thanks.
Sure :
if your geexbox can access internet : do this :
1) switch to vt2 (see section documentation)
2) wget http://download.geexbox.org/releases/extra/i386/extra-fonts-nonfree_2.0-1_i686.opk
3) opkg install extra-fonts-nonfree_2.0-1_i686.opk
4) Cahnge your settings in system/appearance/skins/fonts : “arial based†(maybe then change in video/subtitle too)-

Ok, thanks a lot, il report back today.
This is situation: i install extra fonts and again change every possible combination under international, subtittles, fonts, appearance, etc and nothing changed. Subtittles does not display on screen if they have a single character wich belons to east european language (some east european latin letters: Å¡,ć,Ä,Ä‘..). I think that is also problem with another type of subs if they have a character which is NOT BELONG to english characters, but im not sure for that other character. I can give you a link to site where you can download subs with east european character and you can try yourself:
http://en.titlovi.com/
http://www.podnapisi.net/en/pdefault//set_language/0Just pick some of serbian, croatian or bosnian subs.
And one more thing: i use XBMC for a almost two years, on ubuntu 10.04, but your version of Geexbox with XBMC frontend is, by my opinion, faster in every way.
ok i will test
please send me one in private
ThanksSorry, dont see option on forum to send you PM, here is the link to subs (two acctualy)

ok, i found what to do …
i convert your crt from cp1250 to utf-8. And it works … Maybe your file lack a description for the encoding style ?
here is how ‘ve done this :
(from linux)
iconv -f CP1250 -t UTF-8 your-file.srt > your_new-file.srtOk, but then i can use XBMC plugin “XBMC subtitles”, because i cant convert that (from the net) subtitle, and they are all in cp1250 format. I use that plugin a lot in combination with IceFilms plugin.
Thx anyway
