I give.. Been round and round on this
Using forum posts beginning here: http://www.geexbox.org/forum/topic/terratec-cinergy-hybrid-t-usb-xs-remote/#post-2579
I worked through the tests below.
The key tests show the correct keys are being pressed, and the remote works. Eenter key and play work, but without EXIT and context menu, it’s a one way street that dead ends.
I also tried the IR instructions here: http://www.solid-run.com/mw/index.php?title=GeeXboX#Remote_control
but the /usr/bin/change-rc file is non existant in my install

And I may be working completely off base as systemctl stop eventlircd.service
gives me “Failed to issue method call: Unit eventlircd.service not loaded”

Wondering if I could remap the keys from this table:
    http://www.geexbox.org/geexbox-daily-usage-inputs-and-key-mapping/

c for context menu and esc for exit?
can someone point me in a direction.

These were run from telnet on a fresh x386 Geexbox 3.1 install

    “no response” is ok

ok , your remote is not (yet) correctly used

    You can look at /lib/udev/rules.d/98-eventlircd.rules
You remote should be added here
and evmap file too in /etc/eventlircd.d/ with the name 03_045e_006d.evmap
with the form : (copy from other file, you need to adapt it from evtest report)

    Yep that did it!
Thank you for the incredibly fast and accurate help Tomlohave! I appreciate your commitment to this project!
You (all) have created a truly beautiful, fast, efficient, and user friendly product!

Now to help the next sod that comes along with the same question.
I’m using one of those 3# wide gray HP IR USB receivers
After a fresh Geexbox 3.1 x386 install (while connected to internet)
    opkg update
    opkg install eventlircd
    systemctl stop xbmc
    systemctl start eventlircd
    systemctl start xbmc

I put the following in a file and saved in /etc/eventlircd.d/ as 03_045e_006d.evmap
(see above to figure out why I used that filename – hint Vendor=045e Product=006d)

The list has more keys than the remote and i customized a couple but this should get you started.

Then added this, down near the bottom of /lib/udev/rules.d/98-eventlircd.rules
There are others (examples) just like it already in the file.

    ENV{ID_VENDOR_ID}==”045e”, ENV{ID_MODEL_ID}==”006d”,
    ENV{eventlircd_enable}=”true”,
    ENV{eventlircd_evmap}=”03_$env{ID_VENDOR_ID}_$env{ID_MODEL_ID}.evmap”

    Reboot and everything worked.

    Notes:
I used a thumb drive and the XBMC->system=>File Manager to move files in and out.

    Thanks for the test ;-)
I will push your file to our tree.
Note: I think a 3.1.1 release should contains it ;)

After some further testing I have a couple of questions.
I thought I was remapping keys with the above file..
I know by the KEY_NUMERIC* the column on the right is the remote key (column on the left is XBMC input)
Using evtest to make sure I was mapping the correct keys… I mapped
    KEY_ENTER – KEY_OK worked.
    KEY_EXIT – KEY_EXIT worked
    KEY_HOME – KEY_MEDIA didn’t work
    KEY_EPG – KEY_MEDIA didn’t work
(KEY_EPG – KEY_EPG works, gives me the context menu, I wanted to map it to the media key too)
    KEY_SLEEP – KEY_SLEEP doesn’t work
    KEY_POWER – KEY_SLEEP doesn’t work
I also had a typo on KEY_BRIGHTNESSUP above

I looked at other .evmap files in /etc/eventlircd.d/ and the use KEY_SLEEP and KEY_POWER.
Is there a conflict somewhere? Something being included before or after that might be overriding these few remaps?
If you point me in a direction I’ll keep testing.. any ideas?

    Edit-time st5amp threw me off
    Fresh boot
Push the remote’s power button 3 times. (KEY_SLEEP)
Push the Media button 3 times Key_Media
    Telnet in and nano /root/.xbmc/temp/xbmc.log
Notice: Background loader start, auto delete: false
Error: Remote Translator: Can’t find button browser_home

Going to map browser_home and see what happens
