Hello,
can you please tell me how to install geexbox 2 hard disk with no other OS
Is it possible to play video files on hard drive?
Add + delete files on the internal hard drive from an external hard drive?

Thank you very much

Best regards

you need geexbox 2.0.1, it has a boot menu added to install it to a blank hard disk

and now with 2.0.1 it’s NTFS ok.

please , be more explicit :
you’ve got one disk for geexbox (only system) and another one for videos ?
with the latest iso, you can install it in your system disk : http://download.geexbox.org/releases/extra/i386/latest-iso-devel.iso
Geexbox will detect the disk containing videos and add it to default location in video menu
But you can’t delete file, mounted partitions are read-only
(that’s not a problem, you can mount them with read-write option)

haha, I think maybe “install geexbox 2 hard disk” just means “install geexbox to hard disk”

2 = to , not two ???

Hello,
Sorry I’m french and I’m not very good in english… I’d like to know :
– which version should I take to install GeexboxII on an interne hard disk as only OS ? because I have a computer just for Geexbox
– is it possible to copy a file from externe hard drive to interne hard drive ?

Thanks a lot

Hi, i’m french too, and as you read, my english is not so good ;)

– for your dedicated computer : use : http://download.geexbox.org/releases/extra/i386/latest-iso-devel.iso.
warning : all your data on this computer will be erased !

– copy files from an external drive is possible using the command line (if you know a little linux it’s not difficult)
else, you can do it from a remote computer too with filezilla or other ftp software
Maybe a plugin/addon exists to do this. I don’t know.

@tomlohave, please tell, with the latest dev snapshot, you can:
install to an empty disk or partition?
What does installer delete – disk or partition?
If I create an additional partition for geexbox and install it on it, will it add a grub entry for a windows OS installed simultaneously?

Thank you!

the installator will erase ALL the disk, creating a new partition that contains only GeeXboX.
No support for other system.

Hello tomlohave,

Is it possible to ask you some questions about the operation of the software in french in private?

Thanks :)
