HI all. I found a solution to my problem. I downloaded ipw2200-bss.fw for debian (just googled it). Put it on my usb key that I have geexbox on. Started up geexbox and went to vt2 (ctrl+alt+f2) login=root & password=root. Copied the file ipw2200-bss.fw from my usb to /lib/firmware.
cp /.root/ipw2200-bss.fw /lib/firmware
then
systemctl restart connman.service
This gave me a flashing wireless led indicator. To setup my network preferences I followed the post by tomlohave & norullzz, thanks to them.

Now I have a fully working wireless connection.
