Script ‘What is changed’

Hello,
I’m thinking to build a script that shows what files are changed comparing my actual installation with the original one.

My goal is identify all changed files in order to backup them and re-use with newer version of geexbox (assuiming new packages are compatible with oldest/original ones)

I thinking to calculate a checksum of all original files and compare this list with my current one.
I think to identify new files (present in current installation and not present in the original one) and modified ones (present in current installation and present in the original one but with different checksum).

This may be a good idea for you?
