I cheked file status with this commands:

    # /usr/sbin/smbd -F
    -sh: /usr/sbin/smbd: not found
    # ls -l /usr/sbin/?mbd
    -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 5448220 /usr/sbin/smbd
    # chmod 7777 /usr/sbin/smbd
    # ls -l /usr/sbin/?mbd
    -rwsrwsrwt 1 root root 5448220 /usr/sbin/smbd

    but the error is again

and with a restart service the result is the same:

    # systemctl start smbd
    # systemctl status smbd
    smbd.service - Samba Server
              Loaded: loaded (/lib/systemd/system/smbd.service; disabled)
Active: failed (Result: exit-code) since Sat 2013-08-17 19:53:48 UTC; 2s ago
             Process: 2042 ExecStart=/usr/sbin/smbd -F (code=exited, status=203/EXEC)
    Aug 17 19:53:48 geexbox systemd[1]: smbd.service: main process exited, code=exited, status=203/EXEC
Aug 17 19:53:48 geexbox systemd[1]: Unit smbd.service entered failed state

    Anyone can help me?

I followed step by step your guideline. This is my result:

    # uname -a
    Linux geexbox 3.6.9 #1 PREEMPT Fri Aug 9 17:16:02 IDT 2013 armv7l GNU/Linux
    # ls
    channels.conf samba-server_3.5.10-1_armv7.opk
    # rm samba-server_3.5.10-1_armv7.opk
    # ls
    channels.conf
    # wget http://download.geexbox.org/snapshots/geexbox-xbmc-armada5xx-cubox/latest
    /binaries.cubox/packages/samba-server_3.5.10-1_armv7.opk
    Connecting to download.geexbox.org (67.203.12.194:80)
    samba-server_3.5.10- 100% |*******************************| 27768k 0:00:00 ETA
    # opkg install samba-server_3.5.10-1_armv7.opk --force-overwrite
    Installing samba-server (3.5.10-1) to root...
    Collected errors:
     * opkg_install_pkg: Package samba-server md5sum mismatch. Either the opkg or the package index are corrupt. Try 'opkg update'.
     * opkg_install_cmd: Cannot install package samba-server.

I removed previous package manually download from http://download.geexbox.org/binaries/cubox/latest/packages/ (see next rows)

This other way (please regard the path). This don’t give me the error during install but I have error when I check smbd status (my first post):

    # opkg update
    Downloading http://download.geexbox.org/binaries/cubox/latest/packages//Packages.
Updated list of available packages in /var/lib/opkg//snapshots.
    # opkg install samba-server
    Installing samba-server (3.5.10-1) to root...
    Downloading http://download.geexbox.org/binaries/cubox/latest/packages//samba-server_3.5.10-1_armv7.opk.
    Configuring samba-server.

It appears that something is unclear mor me. The package downloaded from your way give me an error message when I try to install it, using ‘opkg upgrade’ the package downloaded give me an erorr during execution and no error when install.
    This is frustrating…

    your link : http://download.geexbox.org/binaries/cubox/latest/packages//Packages
    is wrong
this one is for release, not for devel. and 3.0 (release) is for armel while devel use armhf binaries.

please edit /etc/opkg/opkg.conf, modify the first line to point to correct directory :
    http://download.geexbox.org/snapshots/geexbox-xbmc-armada5xx-cubox/latest/binaries.cubox/packages/

    then do
    opkg update

    remove samba-server with :
    opkg remove samba-server
    then re-install it
