I have recently purchased a Cubox-i4 pro and have successfully installed Geexbox Gotham into it (XBMC 13.1, as shown in Settings-System info-Summary). The small problems that I had I solved using mostly the resources on this forum and the wiki of solid-run.
I am however not able to generate events with my remote (Panasonic EUR7651120) on Cubox. I have tried several possible fixes and I will try to sum them up.
First, using this guide, i ran:
systemctl stop eventlircd.service systemctl stop xbmc.service ir-keytable -t Testing events. Please, press CTRL-C to abort. ^CUpon pressing several buttons on my remote for longer than 2s, no events were generated.
Second, i tried this guide, which yielded:
# /etc/init.d/lirc stop -sh: /etc/init.d/lirc: not foundFinally I tried different protocols as suggested here.
# systemctl stop eventlircd.service # systemctl stop xbmc.service # ir-keytable -p nec Protocols changed to NEC # ir-keytable -t Testing events. Please, press CTRL-C to abort. ^C # ir-keytable -p rc-5 Protocols changed to RC-5 # ir-keytable -t Testing events. Please, press CTRL-C to abort. ^C # ir-keytable -p rc-6 Protocols changed to RC-6 # ir-keytable -t Testing events. Please, press CTRL-C to abort. ^C # ir-keytable -p jvc Protocols changed to JVC # ir-keytable -t Testing events. Please, press CTRL-C to abort. ^C # ir-keytable -p sony Protocols changed to SONY # ir-keytable -t Testing events. Please, press CTRL-C to abort. ^C # ir-keytable -p sanyo Protocols changed to SANYO # ir-keytable -t Testing events. Please, press CTRL-C to abort. ^C # ir-keytable -p rc-5-sz Protocols changed to RC-5-SZ # ir-keytable -t Testing events. Please, press CTRL-C to abort. ^CAny idea how to solve this problem? Is there any additional information that I need to provide?
Thanks in advance for any help!
I struggled with the same thing trying to use my Panasonic TV remote. If that remote is for a Panasonic device (as opposed to some universal remote), then, AFAIK, Panasonic doesn’t use one of the supported protocols; they apparently have their own protocol.
I gave up on my idea to use my Panasonic remote and went with a universal remote whose auxiliary device I configured to emulate a Windows Media Center remote. The remote then used an RC-6 protocol made all of the stuff you’re doing above from the wiki work right away for me.
Thanks for the tip, I’ve ordered a universal remote control (URC 6440, € 25,-) and will use it to control both my TV and Cubox. I assume this will solve the problem, but I’ll post the results here when I’ve set it up.
