Hi! I just created a bootable sd card of geexbox for my cubox i2 ultra. When I connect it to HDMI, it only shows the command line interface. Is this correct? Shouldn’t it show a graphical interface? Many thanks!

The prompt should only be visible for a few seconds and then get replaced by the splash screen. If it stays for an extended amount of time, something is wrong in the startup process. One of the most common causes – besides problems with the SD card itself – are failed attempts to obtain an IP address via DHCP (i.e. network problems). Can you login using telnet or ssh ? Is your internet connection O.K, so that NTP will work ?

Everything in the network is working fine, I’ve connected to the cubox via telnet and everything is working properly. I will give it another try with some other SD card, but is there any LOG file where I can read what is happening or where is happening? Is there any command that could manually start the Graphical Interface?

    Many Thanks!

You can try if “journalctl” will give some clue. In order to start XBMC manually, you can run “systemctl start xbmc”. However, this is supposed to happen automatically. So there must be a reason why it does not on your system. BTW, which version do you have ?

It worked! I changed of SD card and it worked perfectly! I’m currently using r16945 for cubox i2 ultra.

    Many thanks for the help!

Which model of SD card did you use ? There are known issues with UHS-1 cards on CuBox-i hardware. Even though it was said that these cards should work at “non-ultra” speed, I have a Sony that will not.

I used a Transcend micro SD HC. The card that I was previously using was a Kingston Micro SD HC. I don’t think the card was the issue, since I’ve tried with both cards again and it worked perfectly. Maybe some error at burning the SD was the isue.
