    Hi,

    there are many audio devices around these days which run with a ‘generic USB audio device’ driver provided by the OS.

    Would Geexbox support such a device?

    (Since my amp does not have a headphone jack I’ve been searching the net for a good/affordable/feasible solution and I found this at last: http://www.audioquest.com/usb_digital_analog_converter/dragonfly-dac)

    /* edit:
    Does anyone know what the max current is that CuBox can provide? Is it the standard 500mA?
    */

    Theoretically it should work as long as the device is supported by ALSA. However, there is one person who reported a problem with USB audio on GeeXBoX XBMC (hang when switching between devices). Due to the lack of hardware I cannot test myself.

    According to Rabeeh, the two ports share a common current limiter of 1A. This means that one port can provide more than 500mA as long as the other is loaded less.

    Thanks for the info, Rudi. Maybe I’m going to test this on a dark, colde winterday ;-)
