Is there a simple way to do a weekly snapshot update without losing the configuration?

Currently I’m using the CuBox Installer from Solid-Run for fetching the snapshots.
But the more I use the small cube the more complicated my configuration becomes

    cheers,

I guess you can play with opkg to do this …
What you can do : edit /etc/opkg/opkg.conf to point to correct url : http://download.geexbox.org/snapshots/geexbox-xbmc-armada5xx-cubox/latest/binaries.cubox/packages/
    Then do
    opkg update
    Before installing /upgrading, check http://hg.openbricks.org/openbricks/shortlog
here you can see what changed. Then you can perform an update of packages (be aware of dependencies)
In case there are major changes, the best way is to recreate from scratch, (using installer or script make-sdcard) . save your /root /video /…folders to save your data

I played around a bit with these things but it does not work out …

If I set the conf-path to …/binaries.cubox/packages/ it updates only the packages but not the snapshot
If i set it to …/binaries.cubox/ it is able to update the snapshot but not the packages.

Maybe I need more time for playing around with these settings ;-)
