Hello,
I’m running latest version of geexbox on CuBox-i (geexbox-devel-20140114-r16709.cuboxi). The issue is I can’t set fixed format bit rate for SPDIF (optical) output in XBMC. My stereo receiver is capable of receiving PCM 16-bit signal only and XBMC is using 24-bit (24_LE).
I’ve tried to test the output via the command line and it’s working when output format is set to S16_LE.
Command used: speaker-test -Ddefault -c2 -fS16_LE
Could somebody help me with this issue?
Thank you in advance.
I will have a look at this when my CuBox-i arrives…
I’ve added a workaround in r16754. But I don’t think it’s a problem of your receiver…
Thanks for your response and support. Where can I download r16754?
Should appear here sooner or later… Cannot tell exactly when, because that depends on the cycle of our buildbot.

Hey guys,
I received my cubox-i a couple of days ago and it’s a wonderful HTPC but I have a slight issue and the thread title fits perfectly!
I’m running the v.16611 and v.16711 (which is actually worst for me) and I have a sound issue with stereo only. The cubox is plugged to the TV via hdmi, and to receiver (http://www.uk.onkyo.com/en/products/ht-r508-43302.html) via spdif.
I tested multiple scenario to confirm that :Output set to spdif, no passthrough
Multichannel file : Ok on all 5.0 speakers / Stereo file (audio or video) : noise soundOutput set to spdif, passthrough for DTS/AC3
Multichannel file : Ok on all 5.0 speakers / Stereo file (audio or video) : noise soundOutput set to hdmi, no passthrough
Multichannel file : Ok on TV speakers / Stereo file (audio or video) : Ok on TV speakersOutput set to hdmi, passthrough for DTS/AC3
Multichannel file : Ok on all 5.0 speakers / Stereo file (audio or video) : Ok on TV speakersWhen I’m testing the command above, but with “-t sine” argument, it is working fine in both 16 and 24bits.
If you have any idea what I could check… Thanks!
Hello,
as it was previously mentioned by Warped Rudi, the workaround has been made and will be implemented in the next release of GeeXboX for CuBox-i (r16754). Just wait for that release, it should appear here.
Oups, sorry, didn’t realize that the build version was higher than latest available nightly one. I was so much into troubleshooting that I didn’t pay attention to that important detail.
