When will a new kernel be available for th cubox i? Kernel 3.10 has issues with spdif. Openelec uses already 3.13.6 for there dev snapshots.
I was not able to get spdif working with the current geexbox dev snap shots which still use kernel 3.10 but with openelec spdif is working right of the box. Openelec has some graphic issues so i would prefer to use geexbox.
I have some linux knowledge but compiling a new kernel for cubox i by myself is not really an option.

Has anyone a solution or does anyone know when a new kernel version will be available?

I don’t think we will move the another kernel any time soon… However, you can try r16992 (or the *.dtb files that come with this version).

Where can i find that r16992 build? I was only able to find a r16991 build.

It’s probably not yet finished. Note that we currently have eight active platforms. The buildbot does everything from scratch, which means it will take 7..12 hours for each until it shows up on the download server. Therefore a delay of four days between commit and availability is not so unusual.

Used the latest version (r17002) and spdif is still not working for me.
I did use the same settings as with openelec.
My stereo usually has to be set to automatic detect input (analog, dts, auto). Maybe this is the reason why it is still not working.
    Any help is appreciated.

Hmm. No idea. Works here on i4pro for AC3, DTS and PCM. Did you do a fresh install or an update ? Which CuBox-i model do you have ?

I did some further tests and figured out that when I turn on and off spdif the light of the spdif turns on and off. I read somewhere that there were sampling rate problems with spdif.
Does someone know a solution to this ?

so far only Rudi can help you here. I have no spdif capable receiver.

    Problem solved.
I did use a newer dev build (r17015). There was no white noise anymore. First I thought there is also no sound because I used to test the sound via GUI sounds which seem not to work in geexbox at all. So maybe one of the earlier releases I tried did also work. Now I got sound when playing movies I haven’t tried playing music yet.
I did not have to configure anything beside switch to spdif in the audio settings.
So sorry for the “white noise” from my side.

    Hi

Just got my cubox-i1 and tested latest snapshot of GeeXboX. So far, very nice. :-)

Just one request: Could you enable CONFIG_BLK_DEV_SR in the kernel, so I can use my external DVD drive?

    Thanks

    Michael

    Hi

I just compiled my own kernel with the same config except adding this option. Now the drive is correctly recognized as /dev/sr0 and shows up in XBMC.

However, I can only use non-encrypted dvds. Using commercial movie DVDs the drive starts and stops very often and is not able to load the disk. (The drive works flawlessly with the same DVDs on my PC.)

Do I miss another Kernel option? Or is something else also borked?

Found another glitch: When playing Divx3 material with 24-30fps, it is only played back at 14-15fps. CPU usage is NOT 100% (but instead between 60-80% on a single core cubox-i).
