    Hi,
would be great if we could have aside rtorrent a solution for HTTP downloading from ‘Hoster’ websites (uptobox, fileshare,…).
I found such a lightweight client : plowshare wich is a downloading client without any GUI. Its advantage is to handle premium account.
I tried these instructions but I have a warning “system sed is not GNU sed” when I try the mkdir -p ~/plowshare && PREFIX=$HOME/plowshare bash setup.sh install command.
I don’t understand this warning. That’s why I’m asking for your help.
This tool plowshare can be install on geexbox ?
    How could I do ?

May be you have alternatives tools for such a downloading client ?
I’m using usually Jdownloader with premium Uptobox account but it can not be run withoud a GUI. It seems it can be install by simulating a X server (VNC, Xvf, …) but it quite complex for me…

    Thanks for your help.

    thanks Tom for replying.
What do you mean ? you will add plowshare to be integrated to geexbox as a package ?

So you think this is the best alternative vs. Jdownloader for example ? The version JD2 has a wonderfull web and smartphone app remote GUI (my.jdownloader) to simply add and control the download list. Plowshare has no visible remote control.

bye the way, I finally succeeded to compile the plowshare source above in fact (with the warning). It produced the binaries in /root/plowshare dir !
I still haven’t succeeded to download a file but it’s close to (encountered a script error).

As plowshare is a command line tools, I don’t know how to run a downloading command via putty for example and keep it running (in background or as a deamon) after closing the remote putty session.
Plowshare is missing basic stop/start/pause/resume services but may be this is could be achieved by a such “run as deamon” linux command ?

So what would be the best direct downloading solution to add to Geexbox ?

For running as a background service, I found a way using systemctl.
Don’t know if it is the wright way within geexbox !
But I will give it a try.

My question on the best HTTP downloading tool for geexbox remains open…

I tried to use “screen” command to remotly (ssh) start the plowshare downloading session.
so I ssh to the Cubox-i using a SSH App from my smartphone , create a named screen session
    screen -S plowshare.
As I keep the SSH terminal alive, I can detach/attach the “plowshare” screen session and see the downloading progression.
But whenever I loose the SSH connection, after I reconnect (SSH) and run the command
    screen -ls
it says that the “plowshare” screen session is dead and can not be reattached.

Did I miss something about screen ? this is the aim of screen to keep remote session running on the remote server.
And each time I reconnect I can see the “rtorrent” session !
May be Geexbox has a particular way to handle/create the screen sessions ?

Which option should I try to create a persistent screen session on Geexbox ?

feeling a little bit alone on this thread ;-D…

Just to complete the post for other Linux neexbees like me : I’ve succeeded to download files using plowshare (plowdown) from the cubox-i with geexbox by creating a systemd service like the rtorrent one. It launches plowdown with a screen command.
Because the screen is created by the service, the screen session is not killed when I exit the terminal session in which I started the plowdown service.

So I presume this plowshare package could be integrated within Geexbox !

Off course, but the lack of time ….
Feel free to submit a patch to add this package.

No problemo Tom, I was just kidding.
BTW I don’t know how to build such a package.
Do you have a tutorial to follow ?
Thanks again for the great job you do
