    Dunno what graphic card is inside that old Amilo Pro laptop.
    But that is not the issue, the display works fine until the shell loads.
    Then the shell cuts it off.

    You can see that in xrandr, VGA-1 is disconnected.
    Obviously it is connected at startup, because the display works then.
    So my Q is how to change that setting.

    LVDS-1 connected 1024×768+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 304mm x 228mm 1024×768 60.0++
    VGA-1 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)

    tmho I need to connect VGA-1, but how?
    VGA-1 is connected in startup, set in BIOS, and shows feed up to start Logo GeeXboX, no-signal feed after GUI is loaded.
