hi
i have just tried geexbox, i cant get enought of xbmc at the moment. but to be honest i think the boot process is a bit un user friendly
the fact that you have to select from grub every time i turn my htpc on is a turn off, for the fact that i should be able to sit on my sofa and turn on by remote and enjoy a movie, but with the current extlinux you create have in the installable file in rootfs that cant be, would it be possible to just boot straight to xbmc like
DEFAULT /root/boot/vesamenu.c32
PROMPT 0
TIMEOUT 20
MENU BACKGROUND splash.png
MENU TITLE Welcome to GeeXboX i386 devel-20120117-r13828 (C) 2002-2011
MENU VSHIFT 11
MENU ROWS 6
MENU TABMSGROW 15
MENU CMDLINEROW 14
MENU HELPMSGROW 16
MENU TABMSG Press [Tab] to edit options, [F1] for boot options.
MENU COLOR sel 7;37;40 #e0000000 #fa833b all
MENU COLOR border 30;44 #00000000 #00000000 none
LABEL geexbox
MENU LABEL Start GeeXboX ...
MENU DEFAULT
KERNEL boot/vmlinuz
APPEND initrd=/initrd vga=789 persistent quiet splash loglevel=3
LABEL install
MENU LABEL Install GeeXboX to disk ...
KERNEL /vmlinuz
APPEND initrd=/initrd quiet loglevel=3 nocache systemd.unit=installator.target
MENU SEPARATOR
LABEL debug
MENU LABEL Start in debugging mode ...
KERNEL /vmlinuz
APPEND initrd=/initrd emergency
F1 help.msg #00000000
but instead boot straight to xbmc with
DEFAULT geexbox
PROMPT 0
LABEL geexbox
KERNEL boot/vmlinuz
APPEND initrd=/initrd vga=789 persistent quiet splash loglevel=3
seems more user friendly, and less bothersome
i think ubuntu has a good way to get to a recovery console by hotkey during bootup
would posibly help if yo wanted to keep the debug menus and such,
geep up the great work devs
thanks
jay
