I came across this: http://www.raspberrypi.org/ and, having used Geexbox sporadically for a few years, I thought this would work very well with Geexbox. The developers are aiming for a $25 price at release and a board size no larger than a business card.

    Hi,

I’ve had the Raspberry Pi on my radar for a while, and will definitely look into having support for it in GeeXboX once it becomes available.

I asked them if someone could solder a infrared receptor for remote.

The Raspberry Pi device is based on a 700Mhz processor and has 256Mb ram (model B).
    Will it run XMBC?

Could you create a MPlayer based Geexbox distro to Raspberry Pi device?

5 bucks for a USB IR port and remote control. Would take the need for a solder kit out of the equation. http://www.amazon.com/Center-Remote-Control-Infrared-Receiver/dp/B001HBOJRQ I’m sure there are similar kits for similar prices.
