hi guys,

i’ve tried geexbox from the actual live-CD and like it… awesome OS!

i need it actualy for PVR-Recordings, but there is no DVB-Support at the Moment? I’ve read that older Versions support DVB-TV-Viewing.

Could anybody tell me how to set my PC using geexbox and my DVB-S-Card???

Thanks a lot!

test a devel iso : http://download.openbricks.org/geexbox-devel-20120129-r13874-i386.iso
we have integrated tvheadend and xvdr (default to vdr)
look here for some instructions (minimal) :http://www.geexbox.org/forum/topic/latest-build-for-i386/

hi. i’ve tried it… Installation is suceed, error while starting from HDD (sda):
“Could not open Framebuffer: no such file or directory”
” Failed to open dev/ksmg for logging: no such file or directory”

eexbox-Logo with funny Penguin is shown, after that i could only see an arrow in the left corner and the screen is black- nothing happened after that- i don’t think its freezed, HDD-LED is working sometimes…

Isn’t it possible to install that damn Distribution and watch/record TV without apply 1000000 changes???

Also i don’t understand following from “http://www.geexbox.org/forum/topic/latest-build-for-i386/”:

“0) configure your regional settings (timezone, etc) else records won’t work”

i don’t get the chance to make those settings??

“1) create our own channels.conf for vdr 1.7 ( -o7 ) (from putty or from vt2)”

I know “putty” as a Telnet-Console from Windows… At which port i have to connect to the Geexbox-PC, and which login- i need?

I’m a Windows User – could anybody tell me how to run this Geexbox-OS???

official release doesn’t support PVR
We are working on it, that’s why i proposed to you a devel iso.
You have 2 solutions :
- wait for official release that support PVR
- test iso devel, keeping in mind that ‘s a “devel” iso. it can damage your hardware , burn your house, ie it’s not perfect ;)
Now if you have no screen with xbmc, can you post the result of command-line : ” cat /var/log/Xorg.0.log” to see what is the problem with your video card ? and the result of “cat /root/.xbmc/temp/xbmc.log” ?
To access virtual terminal in geexbox, read the documentation here : http://www.geexbox.org/geexbox-advanced-configuration-login-and-administration/
There are changes about video cards, test a more recent iso : look here : http://download.openbricks.org/

hi again.

my problem is still, that nothing happens after installing the image! Is wrong/incompatible hardware the reason?

all other linux-distrubutions are running, but i get no Live-TV-Picture on my Screen…

I’ve tried following:

MythTV
CT-VDR
Xubuntu
Geexbox
EasyVDR (TV-Picture is shown! XMBC-Frontend v10, but no Live-TV-Support!?)
DML
