Hi,
I try to set-up small media player based on GeeXboX and some quite old P4 IBM desktop, but i encountered some problems.
At the beginning I was testing version 1.2.4 and it was almost ideal, but it has issues with DVD menus
So I switched to 2.0.1(as i would like to install it on HDD), and here are my problems/questions:
It won’t start as LiveCD (I got logo, CD is reading for some time and then i get black screen)
Installation works fine but just before it starts i got msg that it could not find framebuffer
After installing it on HDD it works so slow that it’s impossible to do anything
All of mentioned problems occur in both 2.0.1 and in the newest devel version.
Unfortunately i can’t provide PC specs right know as it is in another location where i don’t have access to internet. I will check it in few hours and write it down here.
September 6, 2012 at 08:49 #4270I’ve checked the specs, i hope it will help in finding solution:
Intel Pentium 4 HT 3.0GHz
256MB DDR (or 512MB i don’t really remember)
Graphics Intel 945September 6, 2012 at 09:07 #4271Friend of mine just called saying that chipset is probably Intel 915G not 945
PS. Why i couldn’t EDIT my previous posts? The EDIT button is on this post only…

September 7, 2012 at 04:41 #4286I understand that you will post link to the ISO file once you finish building it?
September 7, 2012 at 04:46 #4287September 7, 2012 at 11:44 #4289please test : http://download.openbricks.org/r15043/geexbox-devel-20120907-r15043-i386.iso (tested only in v-box for me)
(remove / recreate a clean casper-rw before)
and add your Xorg.0.log
September 7, 2012 at 14:17 #4292I will not be able to test it until Monday
But thank you, I will post log as soon as possible.
September 10, 2012 at 10:32 #4451Unfortunately, it didn’t help.
Here’s what happens:
When I try to boot LiveCD i don’t get any error massages, system starts normally, after main menu appears i got black screen(i can see main menu for 1-2 seconds) and monitor turns to standby(like no signal is sent from computer).
When i try to install, I still get “no framebuffer” error, but it install properly. After reboot it show main menu for 1-2 seconds and again monitor turns to standby and i cant do anything:(
September 10, 2012 at 11:09 #4452please attach your Xorg.0.log
and the result of command line located in journal.txt :
journalctl -a > /root/journal.txt
and how much size for your ram ?
